Don Vicente Martinez Ybor came to a pine scrub and swamp area to establish what would become known as the “Cigar Capital of the World,” which he named after himself.
From the time of the first cigar factory’s opening in 1886 until the 1930s, Ybor City was a thriving business community.
In this urban park, the preservation of Ybor City’s unique cultural heritage is a top priority.
The museum, which is housed in the historic Ferlita Bakery, tells the storey of Ybor City’s rich cultural history as well as the history of the cigar industry.
Museum exhibits include written and audio information, as well as a video presentation. Self-guided tours are also available. After regular park hours, the ornamental garden can be reserved for special events.
Nineth Avenue and 19th Street in Tampa are the two streets that the park is located on.
Effective May 21, 2021: Ybor City Museum State Park is open. La Casita guided tours are currently unavailable.
