Introduction of Woodford State Park
Woodford State Park Campground, located next to Adams Reservoir, has 103 campsites (including 20 lean-tos) and 4 cabins. There are flush toilets, hot showers ($), a playground, a picnic area, and a dump station at the campground. Each campsite includes a table, a fire ring, and a grill. There is also group camping available.
Woodford State Park is 398 acres in size and has the highest elevation campground in Vermont, at 2,400 feet.
The spruce, fir, and birch forest has beautiful fall colours and hiking trails. There are other lakes and ponds nearby, in addition to Adams Reservoir. Woodford is situated on a mountain plateau, encircling Adams Reservoir. Woodford also shares a boundary with the Green Mountain National Forest’s George Aiken Wilderness Area.
Woodford State Park Camping
There are 83 tent/RV sites (no hookups) and 20 lean-to sites at the campground. The heavily wooded area that surrounds the reservoir provides excellent camping opportunities. There are flush toilets, hot showers ($), and a dump station. There are ice and firewood for sale. The use of generators is restricted.
Woodford State Park Activities
Fishing
Adams Reservoir has excellent brook trout fishing. Fish from a canoe, kayak, or the beach. Visitors over the age of 15 must have a valid fishing license.
Hiking

Bird watching
Woodford State Park is home to a variety of bird species that live in open water, wetlands, and woodlands. Northern goshawk, broad-winged hawk, ruffed grouse, wild turkey, barred owl, verry, hermit thrush, blue-winged teal, Virginia rail, sora, American coot, common snipe, willow flycatcher, common loon, and osprey are all possible sightings.
Bicycling
Bicycle through the park for an easy all-ages ride, or take Rt 9 (a scenic auto road called the Molly Stark Trail) into the Green Mt. National Forest for both road and mountain biking.
