Introduction of White Oak Lake State Park

The 725-acre White Oak Lake State Park in south western Arkansas is a refuge for wildlife and fishing aficionados nestled among the forested, undulating hills. The park serves as a stunning representation of the region’s untamed, diverse flora and wildlife, known as the West Gulf Coastal Plain of Arkansas. A tranquil setting for a day trip or a two-week family holiday, the park’s lovely lakeside setting for camping and picnics combines with the lake’s fishing pleasures. You will never forget your enjoyable visit at White Oak Lake State Park, whether you want to relax by the shore with a fishing line and wait for the big one or explore the trails while admiring the views and sounds of nature.

White Oak Lake State Park Camping

The park has 45 campsites (Preferred B, Standard B, and Tent sites), a year-round store with supplies, bait, and souvenirs, a marina with boat rentals, a launch pad, a fishing pier without barriers, a standard pavilion, picnic areas, pathways, and a playground. The tourist centre offers bicycle rentals, interactive CDs, and exhibitions.

White Oak Lake State Park Activities

Boating

For those with their own rigs, a free launch ramp close to the boat pier offers quick access to the lake. The lake has no horsepower restrictions. Rentable watercraft include pedal boats, fishing boats, party barges, canoes, and water cycles.

Hiking

Three nature paths meander through a range of landscapes, from hills covered in beech trees to marshlands. The many resurrection ferns that spread like ivy on tree trunks and stumps gave the 9.8-mile Fern Hollow Trail its name. The walk meanders through some of Arkansas’s most distinctive landscapes, where you can observe the amazing woody vegetation as well as the peculiar sand hill plant life.

Camping

The majority of the 45 campsites along the shoreline have 50 amp electrical service and can fit the newest RVs and trailers. The park’s restrooms and baths are always accessible. Only tent campers are permitted in the final four sites, which have water and power available at 41 of them. The restroom and a trailer dump station are close by. Along the Fern Hollow Trail, basic camping is also possible.

Fishing

Excellent fishing may be found at White Oak Lake for bass, crappie, catfish, and bream. There are fishing boats, party barges, and canoes for rent, as well as a boat launch for people with their own vessels.

Birdwatching

The park is the ideal place to go if you want to see some of Arkansas’ rarest birds because it is home to many different bird species in its beech woods. Osprey, egret, blue and green herons will all be seen. You could be fortunate enough to see bald eagles mating if you go during the winter.

For further details about the park’s birds, contact the park office. They might be able to provide you a list of the species that can be found in the park. Additionally, you might look at the websites of nearby birdwatching organisations, many of which offer details on regional species and current occurrences.

Picnicking

Near the Spring Branch Trail, there is a picnic spot and a screened-in group pavilion that may be rented for special occasions.

Transportation

Driving

White Oak Lake State Park, which is situated in southwest Arkansas, is easily accessible by car from a number of significant Southern cities. The majority of RV campers should have little difficulties moving their rig about the park because the roads are pretty simple to traverse.

Take I-40 and I-30 from Memphis, and you can get to the park in about three and a half hours. You can reach the park from Little Rock in under two hours by travelling west on I-30.

The park’s well-kept roadways make it simple to get to your campground. Try to reserve a site that is closer to the park’s major roads because some of the sites farther back in the park may be difficult to access with a big rig.
