Introduction of Tugman State Park

Tugman State Park, a quiet retreat on the magnificent south coast, remains surprisingly undiscovered despite being near to Highway 101. Tugman provides 94 campsites with electric/water connections set away in a mature stand of coast pines on Eel Lake close to the hamlet of Lakeside. A bathroom and gazebo-style shelter are located in the day-use area, which is encircled by wide, lush grass.

There is plenty of room for both big and little groups to have fun. Eel Lake’s waters are excellent for swimming, canoeing, sailing, and boating. Hikers can leave the park’s built portion and explore the lake’s numerous inlets by following a track that round the lake’s southern end. As you stroll through woods of spruce, cedar, fir, and alder, perhaps you’ll catch a glimpse of an osprey, crane, eagle, deer, or other woodland critters.

Less than a mile separates you from the well-known Oregon Dunes Recreation area. Visitors who want to go from Reedsport to Coos Bay along the Oregon coast may easily reach Tugman.

There are a tonne of fishing chances at Eel Lake. The sheer drop-off, brush-covered beach, and undersea structure make this the ideal lake for bass boating and fishing. There are plenty of largemouth bass in the lake, some of which may weigh up to five pounds, as well as crappie, rainbow trout (which are stocked), steelhead, and coho salmon. Even coho less than 15 inches must be freed. At the day use area close to the boat ramp, there is a fishing dock that is completely accessible. From the dock, people frequently catch bass and trout.
