Introduction of Taylorsville Lake State Park

Taylorsville Lake State Park is 1,200 acres of beautiful lakefront landscape in Kentucky. Because of its location on Taylorsville Lake, the most heavily stocked lake in the state, fishing enthusiasts flock here. You won’t want to miss the 24-miles of forest trails at this park, or the fishing and boating opportunities on the 3,050-acre Taylorsville Lake, if your RV adventures take you through northern Kentucky.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers built Taylorsville Lake in the 1970s to control local floodwaters. The lake is named after Richard Taylor, an early pioneer who donated 60 acres of land for civic use. Because of the way the lake was formed, there are many still standing trees and timber at the lake’s bottom. These trees provide a natural habitat for local fish populations, and waterfowl such as blue herons can frequently be seen fishing in the area. The nearby Taylorsville Lake Visitor Center describes the lake and dam system’s construction and features interesting historic structures that were relocated to make way for the project. With its boating, fishing, trail system, and watersports, the lake is now a popular destination for visitors.

Taylorsville Lake State Park is open all year, but the campgrounds are closed from mid-December to mid-March. Taylorsville Lake is a great place to visit any time of year due to its temperate seasonal weather, which includes mild winters and humid summers.
