Rio de Los Angeles State Park and the nearby Los Angeles State Historic Park serve the local communities by offering a one-of-a-kind State Park experience. Despite the fact that Rio de Los Angeles (LA River) State Park is surrounded by industrial and residential areas, restoration of the park’s natural river wetlands provides a serene opportunity for all visitors who enjoy hiking trails, being surrounded by native plants, and viewing returning wildlife. There are also sports fields, a children’s playground, and a recreation building in the park. A site that was once primarily used to repair and maintain railroad cars now allows visitors to restore and replenish their inner needs. Rio de Los Angeles State Park is currently managed in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Recreation of the City of Los Angeles.

Rio de Los Angeles State Park Location

The park is located in Los Angeles at 1900 San Fernando Road. The park is only 2 miles from the I-5, SR 2, and the 110 Pasadena Freeway. Buses run from downtown Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, and the San Gabriel Valley to the area. A bus stop is located at the intersection of San Fernando Rd. and Fletcher Ave., which serves as the hub for several routes connecting downtown Los Angeles, Glendale, Sylmar, and El Monte. The Metro Gold Line also offers light rail service, with the nearest stations on Avenue 26 about 1.3 miles south of the park and on French Avenue, just off Figueroa Street (French Station) about 1.3 miles southeast.
