Introduction of Rancocas State Park

Rancocas Creek, located within Rancocas State Park, provides an idyllic setting for close observation of nature in the rustic park. It also has many historical and cultural attractions. Hikers, bikers, and joggers are all welcome. A network of trails leads hikers through upland and lowland hardwood forest, along the North Branch of Rancocas Creek and an extensive freshwater tidal marsh. The landscape’s diversity provides habitat for a wide range of bird and animal species. A self-guided interpretive trail with highlighted points of interest is available at the natural area.

Within the park, the New Jersey Audubon Society operates a Nature Center and sponsors a variety of wildlife programmes. Rancocas Road is the entrance to the Nature Center. The Powhatan Indians run a museum and a Native American village replica, both of which are intended to educate visitors about their culture. In the spring and fall, the Powhatans host festivals with music, performances, and crafts.

Rancocas State Park Camping

Indian Rock RV Park and Campground is one of the closest places to go camping with an RV near the park. The park, which spans nearly 30 acres, is densely forested with pine and oak trees, providing plenty of shade for the numerous campsites. Each site has both water and electric hookups, and many also have sewer. Other amenities include a pool, a mini-golf course, a playground, table tennis, and weekend activities.

Timberline Lake Camping Resort, with 185 shaded and wooded sites, is another good option for those looking to camp at Rancocas State Park. It is located on the shores of a beautiful lake and features a private beach, a swimming pool, a general store, and much more. The campground accommodates both weekend and seasonal camping, and there are plenty of activities for all ages throughout the year. Hiking

Nature trails and guided walks are available at the New Jersey Audubon Nature Center.

The Powhatan Indians run a museum and a Native American village replica, both of which are intended to educate visitors about their culture. The Powhatan Indians sponsor a Juried American Indian Arts Festival in May and October.

Bicycling

A network of trails winding through upland and lowland hardwood forest welcomes bicyclists.

Rancocas State Park Location

Rancocas State Park is accessible via I-295, exit 45A, or Route 38 into Mount Holly. Turn left at the second traffic light onto the Mount Holly bypass. For about 4 miles, follow the signs to the park.
