Introduction of Moose Point State Park
Moose Point State Park, located just off the scenic U.S. Route 1 along the Maine coastline, is a peaceful place to have a picnic, walk trails, and enjoy panoramic views of Penobscot Bay.
The land was formerly a dairy farm before being donated to the state as a park in 1952. The park was named after a rocky outcropping in the bay. There are three distinct hiking trails totaling more than two miles in length. One trail leads to Moose Point along the rocky shoreline, with occasional views of the bay. Another meanders through the mixed deciduous and conifer woods to the shore, while the third meander through the grassy open area.
