Introduction of Mine Kill State Park

Mine Kill State Park, located in the scenic Schoharie Valley, overlooks the NY Power Authority’s Blenheim-Gilboa Reservoir, which is part of the Pumped Storage Power Project. Visitors to the park’s outdoor pool complex, which includes an Olympic-size pool, a wading pool, and a diving pool, are popular during the summer. Fishing, boating, hiking, disc golf, hosting a picnic in one of the park’s various pavilions, and playing on the park’s playgrounds and athletic fields are some other warm-weather activities. Hikers at the park can see rushing water cascading 80 feet through a narrow gorge down the park’s name, Mine Kill Falls. Sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are popular winter activities.

Visitors can also camp at Max V. Shaul State Park, which is only 9 miles away and has 30 quiet, wooded tent and trailer sites.

The Mine Kill State Park, including the pool complex, is completely free to visit thanks to the New York Power Authority. This is a pay-as-you-go park. Friendly to groups/motor coaches. Picnic shelter rentals are very reasonably priced. Reservations for picnic shelters should be made through the park office.
