Introduction of Martinak State Park
Martinak State Park is a magnificent setting in Maryland that offers RV camping and a wide range of recreational opportunities all year. Martinak is in Caroline County, near the confluence of the Choptank River and Watts Creek. This riverfront RV park has unrivaled natural beauty and scenic appeal. The park’s various habitats include forests, marshlands, and lush green fields that support a variety of wildlife and birds.
This 107-acre park is an RV camper’s dream, with 63 campsites divided into two loops and a variety of amenities such as electric hookups, pet friendliness, and disabled facilities. Hiking, boating, fishing, visiting the nature center, and attending various seasonal events and celebrations are all options for RV campers. RV campers can also choose from a variety of picnic tables and a picnic pavilion near the Choptank River.
The park is named after George Martinak, a passionate camper who donated his land for the creation of this state park. Until 1961, this land was used by George Martinak as a hunting and fishing spot for Martinak’s exclusive use. The park is open all year for camping and other activities. Guests can also take advantage of the conveniences of camping cabins. The park is open from sunrise to sunset all year. From April to October is the busiest camping season.
Martinak State Park Camping
Martinak State Park is home to a 63-site RV campground. Camp Loop A and Camp Loop B divide the campground into two loops. Camp Loop B has electric campsites. All campsites are also suitable for tent camping.
Each campsite includes a free camping pad, picnic table, and fire ring. Thirty campsites have 30-amp electric hookups as well. There are no water or sewer hookups, but water and sanitation arrangements have been made. Every camping loop has potable water, and a dump station is located in the campground just outside Camp Loop B. Each camping loop has restrooms and plays equipment.
Loop A includes sites 31-60, with 37, 38, 51, and 52 being handicap accessible. Sites 1 to 30 make up Camp Loop B. Sites two through five are ADA accessible.
A campsite can be reserved up to a year in advance. A campsite can be obtained by a camping party of no more than six people. Per campsite, only two camping units are permitted. RV camping is available all year. Pets are also welcome.
Martinak State Park Activities
Boating and Fishing
Visitors who bring their RVs or campervans to Martinak State Park will find some fantastic recreational opportunities along the Choptank River and Watts Creek. Those who enjoy boating or fishing will be delighted by the fishing and boating opportunities available here. Anglers will be drawn to the riverbanks by abundant stocks of bass, sunfish, catfish, and perch. Right from the fishing pier, you can cast your line. During the peak season, canoes can be rented and launched directly from the boat launch.
Hiking
Martinak State Park has some fantastic hiking for its adventurous RV campers. The park, which is made up of marshes, forests, and grassy fields, is home to a variety of wildlife and birds. Hiking Trails in the park are an excellent way to explore all of this and more. The trails explore the park’s diverse landscape and its flora and fauna. The Nature Trail, Activity Trail, Mardela Trail, and Point Trail in the park provide opportunities for leisurely bike rides, guided walks, early-morning walks, dog walks, nature walks, night hikes, and outdoor yoga.
Santa’s Chase
Winter may not be included in the park’s peak camping season, but December at Martinak State Park is undoubtedly a time of excitement, holiday spirit, and lots of outdoor fun. Christmas joys are celebrated in December with festive programmes such as Santa’s Chase. Santa’s Chase is a two-mile illuminated trail that allows families to walk or jog through. Dog walks and a Santa-judged costume contest are also on the agenda. Santa’s Chase is an annual event that has piqued the interest of RV campers since its inception.
Martinak State Park Location
Martinak State Park is located in Caroline County, Maryland. RV campers will find it easy to get to the park because it is close to the popular Choptank River. Denton is only a few miles north of the park.
Because the park is small, less than 200 acres in size, campers do not have to travel far to get from one location to another. There is ample parking in the park. Towing is also permitted. Only park in designated lots and campgrounds. The campsites are long but narrow, so very wide RVs may have difficulty getting parked. The sites, on the other hand, are well-paved and level.
