Introduction of Little Pine State Park

Little Pine State Park, which spans 2,158 acres, is located just over an hour from State College. The four-mile-long Little Pine Creek, from which it gets its name, is not to be missed. The park, which is located 40 minutes from Williamsport and Lock Haven in Pennsylvania, borders the mountainous terrain of Tiadaghton State Forest, making it an ideal habitat for wildlife. Bear, coyote, and deer abound, while birders can spot wild turkey, osprey, and nesting eagles.

This is an excellent choice for RVers who want to mix nature and adventure into their vacation. The park offers fun outdoor activities all year. Little Pine State Park welcomes visitors to go hunting, hiking, and fishing. If you’re visiting in the winter, bring your skis and snowmobiles. Ice fishing and sledding are also options for RV visitors.

There is no shortage of places to spend time with your family with over 100 campsites to choose from. RV campers will appreciate the fact that most sites have electric hookups.

Little Pine State Park Camping

Little Pine State Park has 104 pet-friendly campsites that can accommodate trailers, motorhomes, and tents. The campground is open from April to mid-December. The majority of the park’s RV campsites can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet long and have electricity.

Some of the amenities available here include a dump station, water outlets, showers, garbage and recycling receptacles, a fire ring, picnic tables, and flush toilets. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, guests can camp for a maximum of 14 days. Campers can stay for a maximum of 21 days outside of this time frame.

Little Pine State Park Activities

Hiking

Little Pine State Park is a hiking paradise. Visitors can access every attraction and facility within the park via over 10 miles of scenic trails. The nearly one-mile Carsontown Trail and the five-mile Button Ball Trail are ideal for those looking for a short hike. The five and a half mile Lake Shore Trail is challenging but doable. This is one of the best nature trails for animal and bird lovers. While the nearly three-mile Panther Run Trail and one-mile Spikebuck Hollow Trail are likely to require some level of fitness, they offer the most rewarding views. In addition, a portion of the 250-mile Pennsylvania Mid State Trail runs through the park.

Fishing

Anglers will appreciate the option of fishing along the four-mile Little Pine Creek, a tributary of Pine Creek that originates in the forest, or Pine Creek Lake. Little Pine State Park offers a wide range of fishing opportunities and species. Little Pine Creek is ideal for fly fishing, and the lakeshores are ideal for bank fishing. If you need to go deeper into the water, simply rent a boat and try your luck. The lake is stocked with trout of various species, including brook, rainbow, and brown. Smallmouth bass, perch, and sunfish are also popular fish species.

Boating

Bring your boat and go exploring on the 60-acre Little Pine Lake. You can launch your boat or moor it offshore in one of the park’s 25 mooring spaces. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, paddle boats, canoes, and rowboats can be rented from the concession area. Electric motors are the only ones permitted.

Hunting

White-tailed deer, ruffed grouse, and fox can all be hunted in Little Pine State Park. The park’s 1,700 acres of land are open for hunting and trapping seasonally, allowing hunters to hone their skills. Archers can also enjoy more game hunting in the nearby Tiadaghton State Forest. You can go bear and wild turkey hunting here. There is also a dog training area and an archery range in this area.

Picnicking

Park your campervan in the parking lot and choose a picnic spot along Little Pine Creek. For its visitors, the park offers a mix of shaded and open day use areas. There are four picnic areas available. The park has a secluded day use area totaling six acres in the lower picnic area, surrounded by maple and white pine. Tables and grills are available in the picnic areas for your convenience.

Little Pine State Park Location

Little Pine State Park is easily accessible by RV. Little Pine Creek Road, which leads to the park, is a one-lane road in some places. Campers can park at designated campsites or near the campground entrance if they have a second vehicle. Interior roads are well-kept and wide enough to accommodate large trailers. There is a paved parking lot available for those in the group tenting area. The Lake Shore Trail is not open to motor vehicles. The park has no driving restrictions.
