Introduction of Gloss Mountain State Park
Gloss Mountain State Park is one of Oklahoma’s most spectacular natural areas to visit. The park’s radiance and radiance are due to the Selenite gypsum that is found throughout the park and naturally sparkles and glitters in the sunlight. Gloss Mountain State Park is a day-use-only recreational and educational park open from sunrise to sunset for hiking and picnicking. The park has a restroom, several picnic pavilions and areas, outdoor grills, and a public water supply. Within the park, a short accessible trail leads to an important historical marker. A longer trail also offers a steeper climb up to a beautiful viewpoint with views of the surrounding valley floor. The interesting geological formations, abundant Selenite gypsum, beautiful surrounding scenery, and ample wildlife viewing opportunities are all highlights of Gloss Mountain State Park. Because of their natural shininess and glass-like appearance, the Gloss Mountain Range is also known as the Glass Mountains.
