Fremont Peak State Park has primitive tent camping as well as a few RV spots. There is also a group camping area separate from the general camping area. There are pit toilets but no showers at Fremont Peak State Park. Before visiting Fremont Peak State Park, reserve your campsite online.

Fremont Peak State Park Location

Take Highway 101 to Highway 156 East to get to Fremont Peak State Park. Continue on to San Juan Canyon Road (there will be a sign for Fremont Peak State Park). Continue on San Juan Canyon Road for 11 miles to Fremont Peak State Park.

Fremont Peak State Park History

The park is named after John C. Fremont, the former military governor of California. Fremont raised the American flag at Fremont Peak for the first time in California in 1846. Fremont Peak State Park contains a memorial to John C. Fremont as well as the Fremont Memorial, which is located at the summit of Fremont Peak.
