Introduction of Evansburg State Park

Evansburg State Park is located between Norristown and Collegeville in southcentral Montgomery County. In an urbanised area, Evansburg provides a significant amount of green space and relative solitude.

Its main natural feature, the Skippack Creek, has divided the land into ridges and valleys, creating a sense of enclosure while also providing scenic views.

The first European settlers were Mennonite farmers who used Skippack water to power their industries. Even today, mill ruins, mill buildings, and houses from the 18th and 19th centuries dot the park landscape, serving as reminders of early American life.

The park is now a patchwork of cropland, meadows, old fields, and mature woodlands that draws day visitors from Montgomery County and Philadelphia.

People visit the open play fields, picnic areas, trails, golf course, and the relatively peaceful, natural setting.

Evansburg State Park Camping

Although RV camping is not permitted at Evansburg State Park, RV campsites can be found within a short drive of the park. The ‘Warwick Woods Campground,’ located just west of the state park, is an excellent location for camping. Campers are given partial hookups that include 20, 30 amp electric and water. A dump station, laundry service, shower block, flushing toilets, swimming pool, and on-site general store are all available. Many of the sites are pull-thrus, which means that all sizes of RVs are welcome.

‘Village Scene Park,’ a campground close to the park, is another option. RV campers can get full 20, 30, 50 amp electrical, water, and sewage hookups here. A laundry service, toilets, showers, and free WiFi are available.

Evansburg State Park Activities

Bicycling

The trailhead on Fern Avenue leads to a five-mile mountain bike trail at the park’s southern end. Bicycles are not permitted on any of the park’s hiking or equestrian trails. Bicycles are allowed on paved roads open to vehicle traffic. Remember that the rules of the road apply to bicycles as well.

Fishing

Skippack Creek offers spring trout fishing as well as warm water fishing all year. From preseason to Memorial Day, the creek is stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Smallmouth bass, catfish, sucker, carp, panfish, and eel are all warm-water fish. The picnic area on Lewis Road has an accessible fishing dock. The laws and regulations of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission apply.

Golfing

Skippack Golf Course is a picturesque eighteen-hole, par 71 course with a clubhouse that is open to the public.

Picnicking

Throughout the park, there are over 150 picnic tables, numerous charcoal grills, and modern restrooms. May Hall Road is the main picnic area. A second picnic area is located on Lewis Road in the park’s southern section. Visitors can relax in a peaceful setting along Skippack Creek or participate in unorganised family games such as badminton, horseshoes, and Frisbee.
