Introduction of Dabney State Park
Dabney State Park, located on the outskirts of Portland, offers 138 acres of active and passive recreation and has been a popular swimming and picnic place for over 50 years. Fishing, boating, rafting, tubing, beach sunbathing, picnicking, bird watching, and nature hikes are among the activities available. Bicyclists typically start and finish their journeys on the Historic Columbia River Highway at Dabney. Fishermen enjoy the Sandy River’s deep twists and cobblestone bottoms, where they can catch salmon and steelhead.Dabney’s primary picnic spot is shaded, offers BBQ grills, and is close to the beach. During the summer, the picnic and beach areas are particularly busy. There are other picnic tables and grills throughout the park. The park features one reserveable picnic shelter with electricity that may seat up to 50 people for events.
The Dabney disc golf course is popular all year and is one of the most difficult and challenging courses in the Northwest. There are no pets allowed in the park, which is strictly enforced. Alcohol is permitted in the park, but only above the Stark Street Bridge.
