Introduction of Bogachiel State Park
Bogachiel State Park is a 123-acre camping area located on the banks of the Bogachiel River. The park is located on Washington’s remote northwestern tip. “It’s not the end of the world, but it’s visible from there.” So goes a popular Northwest proverb about this area. The park is located on the southwestern edge of the Hoh Rainforest. The dense rainfall (140-160 inches per year) that occurs in this region creates lush rainforest terrain.. Camping, picnicking, hiking, bird watching, and wildlife viewing are among the activities available at the park. Six miles north, in the town of Forks, are additional services. Sport fishers in search of salmon and rainbow trout frequent the small town of Forks. In addition, Forks is home to Olympic National Park. Forks is also the famous setting in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. Bogachiel State Park is open all year.
Bogachiel State Park Camping
The campground has 36 standard sites, six with power and water, one dump station, and two restroom buildings with showers (ADA-accessible restrooms/showers are available in the main campground restroom). Campers have access to one kitchen shelter with no electricity. The park only allows RVs and combinations that are 40 feet or less in length. All campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bogachiel State Park Activities
Hiking
The Bogachiel River State Park Trail is a pleasant stroll through maples, alders, and other typical rainforest vegetation. It’s a short (about a mile) trail that’s a great way to get a quick glimpse of the rainforest without committing to a long hike.
Picnicking
The park also has a day-use area with six uncovered picnic tables where you can enjoy a meal outside. There is a restroom nearby.
