Blue Spring has been recognized as a manatee sanctuary. The spring stream maintains a consistent temperature of 72 degrees, providing a safe habitat for the West Indian manatee.

From about mid-November to March, the spring and spring flow are closed to all water-related activities, including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and boating, to provide a safe warm-water habitat for manatees throughout the winter season.

  • Climbing onto the spring banks or trees is not permitted for the safety of tourists.
