Dade Battlefield Historic State Park

Visitors come for the history of Dade Battlefield Historic State Park , but they stay to learn more about the area, which includes ancient oaks and verdant pine flatwoods, as well as a variety of events, programmes, and hands-on craft classes offered throughout the calendar year. This National Historic Landmark, which was established in 1921 to preserve and commemorate the site of Dade’s Battle of 1835, a momentous event that sparked the longest and most costly American Indian war in United States history, has evolved into a focal point of the local community. Every January, approximately 2,000 visitors come to the park to witness the iconic battle reenactment, and families from near and far come to enjoy the beautiful grounds, indoor lodge, and outdoor pavilions for weddings, reunions, and other special occasions.

Picnics, hiking, and wildlife photography are all popular activities in the area. Interpretive programmes are offered on a regular basis to bring history to life. Do not miss the visitor centre, which contains a small museum with artefacts and displays related to the Florida Seminole wars, as well as an award-winning 12-minute video about the battle, titled “This Land, These Men,” that is well worth your time.
