Introduction of Buck’s Pocket State Park
According to legend, Buck’s Pocket is where all defeated public officials go to lick their wounds after an election loss. This 2,000-acre park in northeast Alabama is nestled in an Appalachian Mountains natural pocket. The picnic area at the park provides a natural vista into the pocket below from the canyon rim. The pocket itself, located on an upstream tributary of Lake Guntersville, features an improved campground with tables, grills, shelters, laundry, a comfort station, a playground, and hiking trails. The park is located in northeast Alabama, two miles north of Grove Oak.
