Introduction of Mears State Park

Charles Mears State Park is located along the Lake Michigan shoreline in the quaint village of Pentwater. Paved camping areas are surrounded by fine sand, and a swimming beach is located adjacent to the harbour pier. Pentwater Lake’s shore fishing is very popular in the fall. Fishing from piers near the park is another popular year-round activity.Pentwater Lake has excellent ice fishing in the winter. Hiking enthusiasts can enjoy a one-mile interpretive trail. It winds around to the tip of Old Baldy, a wooded and sand-blown dune with a great view of Lake Michigan’s shoreline, Pentwater, and the boat harbour. Snowmobiles are not permitted on the hiking/cross-country trails, but the activity is encouraged throughout the park. There is also a metal detecting area.

Mears State Park Camping

Campers may not stay for more than 15 nights in a row. Each night, campsites must be occupied. Per campsite, two vehicles are permitted. Visitors are required to leave by 10 p.m. Except at the sanitation station, there is no dumping of grey water. Please do not throw trash or burn it in fire pits. There will be no cutting through occupied campsites. Fireworks are not allowed.
