Introduction of Callahan State park
Northwest Framingham is home to the 820-acre day use park known as Callahan State Park. Callahan boasts seven miles of clearly designated trails that may be utilised for sports including cross-country skiing, horseback riding, hiking, and fishing. There are roughly 100 acres of open space in the park, of which 70 acres are being leased for agricultural purposes.

Flora and fauna
Numerous coniferous and deciduous trees may be seen in the park. Wildlife in the area includes snapping turtles, spotted turtles, red-bellied turtles, white-tailed deer, water snakes, tree frogs, most New England frog and toad varieties, minks, fisher cats, red fox, coyotes, largemouth bass at Eagle Pond, various common trout, sunfish, and blue gills, as well as herons, egrets, bobolinks, goldfinches Ticks, mosquitoes, and deer flies are widespread. In the spring and summer, you can observe garter snakes laying out on bare dirt walkways.
Callahan State park History
In 1970, the park’s initial size was 435 acres. By way of a law passed by the Massachusetts state in 1971, it was formally given the name Raymond J. Callahan in honour of the local newspaperman.

Driving
In central Massachusetts, west of Boston, is where you’ll find Callahan State Park.
From the east or west: Take Route 9 west to the Route 30 exit, turn right at the first set of lights into Edgell Road, then take a left onto Belknap Road, then a right onto Millwood Street, where the entrance is on the left and is next to the golf course.
